Please join us to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti on the full moon day of Sunday, April 17th. The day’s activities will include rituals that praise Hanuman through puja, prayer, and chanting works such as the Sundar Kand, the fifth book of the Ramayana, dedicated to the adventures and heroic acts of Hanuman the divine servant. Then we celebrate with a Bhoj or feast. The day’s schedule will go as follows:

6:00 am    Arati

7:00 am    Kirtan Parade

8:30 am    Chanting of Sundar Kand

11:00 am  Hanuman Puja & Yajna

12:30 pm  Bhoj (feast)

Volunteers are needed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to prepare for one of the Center's largest events - around 400 visitors are expected this year!  There is a volunteer sign-up sheet on the event board near the Cummunity Bldg. dining room. Jai Hanuman!

Hanuman Jayanti commemorates the birth of Hanuman, the monkey-god, known largely for his unflinching service and ardent loyalty to Lord Rama, a divine incarnation in the ancient Indian epic, the Ramayana. Hanuman is venerated particularly in north India as the embodiment of devotion, strength, and energy. He is the quintessential karma yogi, abiding in unerring selfless service to God. The son of the wind god, Vayu, Hanuman also represents prana the life force energy carried in the breath that aids yogis in attaining liberation.

It has also become our tradition at Mount Madonna Center to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti in conjunction with honoring the birthday of our beloved Guru, Sri Baba Hari Dass. Babaji’s inspiration, love, and support has brought blessings and grace into the lives of so many. Please join us for this most auspicious celebration to express our deepest gratitude, respect, and heartfelt love on this special 88th birthday of Babaji.
